Hospira MedNet Software:

To meet the needs of hospitals working to minimize errors, adhere to the best clinical practices, maintain continuity of care standards and fully utilize infusion devices, Hospira developed Hospira MedNet Software.

Hospira MedNet Software is a server-based suite of applications designed to connect data from a hospital's drug information library to infusion devices throughout the hospital to monitor, control and provide reports at the device, group or system-wide levels.

Hospira has several product packages configured with different levels of IT integration ranging from none at all, to full connectivity to bar code point-of-care (BPOC) systems, to 802.11a/b/g compliant wireless network integration modules.

Applications

The primary software applications within Hospira MedNet Software include the following:

  • Hospira MedNet RxRules — A drug library created from the hospital's drug information database and protocols to provide patients greater protection from infuser-based errors. Hospira MedNet RxRules uses this information to enforce hospital-defined rules for dosages and drug interactions
  • Performance Enhancement Reports — Standardized reports of infusion event data from Hospira MedNet Software logs and summarizes alerts displayed, user responses and variances between the medication rules set and programmed values
  • Hospira MedNet Integrator — Software that enables communications with bar code point-of-care (BPOC) systems and other medical devices or applications and supports electronic documentation of I.V. infusion information to the electronic medication administration record (eMAR). Hospira MedNet Integrator also supports 5-Rights Verification, which ensures that the infusion parameters entered on the infuser by the clinician are consistent with the physician's order and are also verified by the clinician
  • Tracker — Extended utilization of infusion devices is facilitated by this tool set that assists hospitals in locating and reporting on the usage of its infusion devices throughout the facility

Product Packages

Hospira MedNet Software can be deployed in any hospital or clinic that uses multiple infusion devices. The configuration depends on the hospital's needs and the degree of IT integration that works best. Hospira's team of IT specialists and experienced pharmacists will work with a hospital to expedite and optimize the configuration and installation.

Hospira MedNet L Server Suite
The Hospira MedNet L (Local) Server Suite provides hospitals with localized drug library uploads into infusion devices and localized data log downloads without needing to connect to the hospital network.

Hospira MedNet N Server Suite
The Hospira MedNet N (Networked) Server Suite extends the reach of Hospira MedNet software through either wired or wireless networks, providing real-time infusion device data capture, real time drug library updates and tracking of all devices connected to the system.

Hospira MedNet N5 Server Suite
The Hospira MedNet N5 Server Suite with the Hospira MedNet Integrator solution provides hospitals with leading-edge medication management software, enabling the exchange of data between bar code point-of-care (BPOC) systems and the server-based Hospira MedNet Safety Software. This real-time exchange of data improves clinician workflow efficiency while simultaneously improving patient safety.

Hospira MedNet Wireless 802.11a/b/g
The Hospira MedNet wireless 802.11a/b/g module provides enhanced authentication and security for 3 network modes over 2 wireless bands for secure, wireless transmission of patient data from the infusers through the wireless network to a Hospira MedNet Server. With a Web-enabled configuration tool, network capabilities and infuser configurations can be upgraded remotely, making network implementations smoother and faster.
