MedNet wireless 802.11a/b/g module strengthens patient data security methods
using IEEE 802.11 standards to enhance point-of-access authentication and
advanced encryption.
The module provides EAP (Extensible Authentication Protocol) support to
higher-level network security through the use of standardized point-of-access
authentication.
The module supports the standards-based encryption schemas for WPA (Wi-Fi
Protected Access) and provides the necessary hardware support for the advanced
WPA2 schema under the guidelines of the Wi-Fi Alliance and the IEEE (Institute
of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.).
The Hospira MedNet wireless 802.11a/b/g module is the first of its kind to offer
all of this on a single module.
Not all hospital networks are the same. The Hospira MedNet wireless 802.11a/b/g
provides the flexibility to be configured for your network protocol.
- The "b" and "g" modes support WPA encryption on the 2.4 GHz band for most
applications.
- For "a" protocol networks, it will support transmissions on the faster 5 GHz
band, thereby reducing potential interference from other wireless devices.
